confusion

Alright, enough digressions.

I sat back down across from Stephen and did my best to relax, catching myself just before I crossed my legs. He noticed. I saw both humor and something darker in his eyes and did my best to ignore both, but when I pressed my knees together instead, I felt his foot press between mine and push them apart. I couldn't stop the flush that crept up my cheeks. He shouldn't have known!

It's never harder to keep quiet, than when you've been told you cannot speak. I sipped my cooling coffee, studied the table top, and finally looked back up at him.

"Hard, isn't it?" he murmured, amusement in his voice. "Just like it's hard to ignore the feel of your skirt against bare skin, isnt' it?" I glanced up into his eyes. I know he read my feelings quite clearly, because he laughed. "Good! I'd hoped this wouldn't be too easy!"
